泉州开元寺里有一棵能开出白莲花的千年古桑树，位于紫云大殿后西廊。该古桑树距今已有1300多年，是泉州市政府1983年公布的第一批古树名木。
Inside Kaiyuan Temple in Quanzhou, there's a thousand-year-old mulberry tree that can produce white lotus flowers. It is located behind the western corridor of the Ziyun Hall. This ancient mulberry tree is over 1,300 years old and was among the first batch of ancient trees recognized by the Quanzhou municipal government in 1983.

1300多年来，古桑树的真实经历颇为传奇。在1925年一次雷雨中，它被雷电一劈为三，折断的枝干并没枯死，而是落地生根又枝繁叶茂。
Over the course of more than 1,300 years, the ancient mulberry tree has a truly remarkable story. In 1925, during a thunderstorm, it was struck by lightning and split into three parts. Surprisingly, the broken branches did not wither but took root and flourished.

透过古桑园的石栏杆望去，千年古桑虽然老态龙钟，但虬曲苍劲的枝干仍然舒展臂膀，翠绿的叶片布满枝丫。
Looking through the stone railing of the ancient mulberry tree garden, you can see that, although it has aged over a thousand years, its twisted and vigorous branches still stretch out, and its lush green leaves cover the branches.
