据史料记载,这里在春秋时期曾是郑、韩两国的军事重镇, strategic location that controlled the north-south traffic and east-west exchanges.
The city site covers a considerable area, with the north wall measuring 344 meters, the south wall 280 meters, the east wall an impressive 1448 meters, and the west wall 1264 meters. The base of the walls was originally more than 10 meters wide, with a top width of 5 meters and a height of about 4 meters. However, much of this grandeur was lost in the 1970s when parts of the city walls were destroyed. Today, only a section of the east wall remains standing as a testament to its former glory.
制陶区与战国陶文的秘密
The site is divided into two main areas: the pottery-making area and the city foundation. In the area between Changmiao Village in the center and Xiatiuhe Village to the southwest, numerous kilns, storage pits, and thousands of Warring States period pottery inscriptions have been discovered. These inscriptions, etched onto pottery shards, provide invaluable insights into the handicraft industry and commodity circulation of that era.
文物保护与文化传承
Despite its historical significance, the site has suffered from neglect and damage over the years. In the 1970s, parts of the city walls were destroyed, leaving only a section of the east wall intact. However, the site has been recognized as a key cultural relic protection unit in Henan Province, and efforts are being made to preserve this important historical site.
Today, the Changmiao City Site stands as a silent witness to the rich history of the Zhengzhou region. It is not just a collection of ruins but a living testament to the ingenuity and craftsmanship of the people who lived there over 2,000 years ago. As we walk among the remnants of this ancient city, we are reminded of the importance of preserving our cultural heritage for future generations.
In recent years, the site has become an important destination for historians, archaeologists, and tourists alike. It serves as a tangible link to the past, allowing us to better understand the development of ancient cities and the lives of the people who once called this place home. The discovery of thousands of pottery inscriptions from the Warring States period has provided invaluable information about the handicraft industry and commodity circulation of that time.
The Changmiao City Site is more than just a collection of ruins; it is a living testament to the rich history and cultural heritage of the Zhengzhou region. As we continue to study and preserve this important historical site, we ensure that the stories of the past are not forgotten but passed down to future generations.
